Coach: Dan Henderson will put his hands on Jon Jones

"I don't hope for anything less than a knockout, but it's not easy on Hendo. He's putting his hands on him, buddy. If he didn't have this (reach) advantage things would be much simpler, even because he has many flaws on his defensive system. But there's no unbeatable reach you can't win with patience and calm. We're having him doing sparrings with guys the same size as Jones so that Dan get used to it. It's important not to rush things and want to punch him right away. We have to cut well the octagon, putting pressure but not rushing into things. We have to try to make the octagon small, leaving no space out for Jones to escape Henderson. We have to use a lot of flow, combine kicks, move the head and work on the reach." - TATAME.com

Dan Henderson’s boxing coach, Gustavo Pugliesi, spoke about his protégé’s upcoming UFC Light Heavyweight title fight with the reigning champ Jon “Bones” Jones. Forty-two year old Hendo will be looking to make one of the biggest upsets in MMA history, beating the 18 years younger Jones.

Meanwhile, UFC President Dana White has officially confirmed that Jones and Hendo will meet on September 1st, most likely at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This will be Jon Jones’ second fight in 2012, and his twelfth in the UFC. Jones is 16-1 in his MMA career, with 8 KO/TKO and 5 Submission finishes. Henderson is 29-8, with 13 KO/TKO (H-Bomb) and 3 Submissions.
