UFC on FUEL TV 2 medical suspensions: Two suspended, James Head not disciplined

Alessio Sakara and Paulo Thiago – the only fighters who suffered knockout losses – were also the only fighters medically suspended following this past weekend's UFC on FUEL TV 2 event.

Both have been suspended 28 days confirmed today with George Sallfeldt, the president of the Swedish MMA Federation.

Sallfeldt also confirmed that James Head currently faces no disciplinary action following some complaints of unsportsmanlike conduct.

UFC on FUEL TV 2 took place this past Saturday, April 14, at Stockholm's Ericsson Globe Arena, and it marked the UFC's debut in Sweden. The main card aired on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook.

Sakara, who suffered a KO loss to Brian Stann, and Thiago, whom Siyar Bahadurzada knocked out, both competed on the main card. Swedish fighter Alexander Gustafsson topped Thiago Silva in the night's headliner.

Head, meanwhile, tapped out Papy Abedi in the event's featured preliminary-card bout. However, after choking out Abedi with a rear-naked choke, Head shoved aside his kneeling opponent to get back to his feet after the fight had been stopped.

While some fans complained about the shove, Sallfeldt said an official complaint hasn't been filed by his opponent.

"The Swedish MMA Federation has not received any complaint about unsportsmanlike conduct on the part of Mr. Head," he said.

Sallfeldt also said that fighter purses/salaries for the event weren't collected and therefore won't be released.

We are really looking forward to the next fight Mr James Head will be having. Hopefully his next opponent will settle the score.

Flattr this!
