FEBRUARY 22ND 2012 Dan Hardy will make his return to the Octagon in May. The British welterweight will face Duane ‘Bang’ Ludwig at the Las Vegas, Nevada event. The match was confirmed to Fighters Only today. He will ride a four-fight losing streak into the match and his UFC career will surely be over, at least for now, if he takes another loss. Hardy has been absent from the Octagon since August last year when he suffered a submission loss to Chris Lytle in a bout that was deemed to be Fight of the Night. The losing run dates back to his unsuccessful attempt to take the belt from Georges St. Pierre at UFC 111 in March 2010. Prior to that Hardy was 4-0 in the UFC and on a seven-fight win streak altogether. His remaining on the UFC roster is thought to be because company CEO Lorenzo Fertitta is a fan of his. Ludwig is coming off a first-round submission loss to Josh Neer in January and is 2-2 in his last four outings, 2-3 in his last five. All of his last five fights have been under the UFC banner. UFC 146 will be headlined by heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos defending the title against top contender Alistair Overeem, who debuted for the UFC in December with a dominant first-round TKO of Brock Lesnar.

Flattr this!
